For those of you that know me personally, you likely know that I am a huge wrestling fan. From WWE to NXT, NJPW, and AEW. I just can’t get enough of it. I’ve been a huge wrestling fan since I was a kid and have very fond memories of playing as my favorite wrestler in the multitude of wrestling games that have come out over the generations. Recently the WWE 2K series started to stale and many wrestling fans, myself included, started wondering when we’d get another TRUE wrestling game. It seems that the call has been answered by All Elite Wrestling and YUKES, with their upcoming AEW Wrestling title coming to both current and next-gen platforms.
YUKES has been a pivotal player in the wrestling game industry since I can remember. They have been the company that has shaped the genre on platforms ranging all the way back to the original PlayStation console. Up until last year, they were in the captain’s chair for all of the WWE wrestling games that have been being released which for better or for worse have started to show their age thanks to the tight reign that WWE has on their branding. All Elite Wrestling or AEW for short is a newer promotion having only broken into the industry a little over a year ago has flipped the industry on its head and made professional wrestling fun again. This also translates well in the short 1-minute trailer that we got to see of the new game at the AEW Games press conference that happened this morning which was lead by none other than AEW’s resident gamer and roster member, Kenny Omega, complete with his Steve Jobs black turtleneck style shirt and blue jeans.
There is no set release date for the All Elite Wrestling game from YUKES, but based on the short preview that we saw in the trailer, the game looks to be shaping up fantastically and honestly looks really fun to play. That’s honestly yet to be seen as no one has gotten their hands on the title except for a number of the elite few that are working on the title, but I have faith in YUKES as well as AEW, as they’re looking to bring the best possible wrestling experience to their fans worldwide.
