Back at the beginning of September, Nintendo announced the biggest surprise that they could have possibly announced at the time and that is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Taking place 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild, the game plays like the previous Hyrule Warriors game or any other Dynasty Warriors game, but with the storytelling that only Zelda titles could achieve.
When they announced the game, they also shared a short two-minute trailer setting the tone and story for the upcoming game as well as a one minute trailer titled Untold Chronicles From 100 Years Past. Now, they have released the second part of Untold Chronicles from 100 Years Past.
The Part 2 trailer focuses on Master Kohga and the devious Yiga Clan pitting up against Hyrulean forces. Master Kohga has an ally with him that seems to be quite loyal and it also seems they have an ominous figure aiding them. The Part 2 trailer is equally as short as Part 1, but it seems that Age of Calamity is going to have a story that ties deep into the lore of Breath of the Wild. I would be lying if I told you that this doesn’t have me extremely hyped for the game.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch on November 20th, 2020, and seems to be shaping up to be a key factor in the story of Breath of the Wild as a whole. Players will have the opportunity to play not only as Link, but Zelda and other Champions that we met in Breath of the Wild. It will be interesting to see what happens in the story leading up to Link’s 100-year slumber before the Calamity takes over Hyrule and the events of Breath of the Wild take place and that is a ride that I’m certainly willing to take.
