There are a few RPGs outside of the handful that I’m absolutely obsessed with that I give the benefit of the doubt. A lot of them just are super grindy, with non-gripping stories and just feel more like a chore than a game. Back in 2017 there was this little ambitious RPG released for the 3DS under the name of The Alliance Alive that swept me off my feet; it was that good. Then in 2019 developer FURYU gave the game an HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. Now in 2021, the game is coming to iOS and Android devices.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the series, The Alliance Alive is a traditional Japanese role-playing game where players take control of an ever-expanding group of characters on a quest to free the world of the Daemons who are controlling humanity. As with other RPG titles, players have to first traverse the world on foot and as the story expands, the players gain access to a flying ship which allows them to access areas of the map which were previously inaccessible by foot.
The Alliance Alive takes place in an unnamed world that is divided into four different landmasses separated by oceans. The world was invaded by a race of Daemons who feared a certain type of energy from the human realm called ‘Chaos’ more than a thousand years before our heroes set foot on their journey to rid the world of the evil threat of the human-hating Daemons.
If you’re a fan of RPG titles, especially those with great battle systems and a truly enthralling story, I would certainly recommend you take a look at The Alliance Alive HD Remaster on any platform that it is available on, but one thing is for certain, being able to play it on your phone is likely going to be the most convenient.
The Alliance Alive HD Remaster will be hitting iOS and Android devices sometime at the beginning of 2021 for ¥3,420. If you purchase early, you will get a 32% discount, bringing the title’s price down to ¥2,320.
