There’s a lot to pay attention to with the latest release from Germany-raised, Tokyo-based trackmaker Android52. The release, which sees Android52 take Yunomi and TORIENA’s “Game Over” and totally flip it on its head, is so much more than just a season-concluding remix — it’s also the debut original label release from promotion channel-turned-label Tokyo Wave; and what a release it is. Originally coming onto the scene as an off-shoot of pre-existing YouTube channel Waifu Wednesdays, an early pioneer in the modern-age promotion of Japanese electronic producers, Tokyo Wave has since changed hands in recent times becoming a part of Harajuku-based management company ASOBISYSTEM’s growing roster of outlets. With that transition complete, we’ve seen a complete relaunch for the channel, which ultimately brought forward this incredible official remix. Before we get into that though, give Android52’s remix of “Game Over” a listen below:
While there’s no doubt in my mind that the original release was an absolute heater, one in which I actually covered at the time of initial release, there’s something so exciting about Android52’s remix that brings such a fresh coat of paint to an already incredible track. Originally known for his ‘anime groove’ edits, this last year has seen a total reimagining of Android52’s image and sound, now zeroing in with much clearer focus on his signature sound. The end result, as showcased perfectly here, is a hard-hitting project that takes whatever he touches to exciting new heights, and always proves to be the perfect accompaniment for the dancefloor. If this is the start of what Android52 has to offer leading into the latter half of 2019, I can’t wait to see what he has in store.
Available now via all major streaming services — including YouTube, of course — those interested in checking out more on Android52’s incredible flip of Yunomi and TORIENA’s “Game Over” can head over to the track’s official webpage.
