Wedding Season Begins in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Everything You Need to Know

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been rather active with events since its release back in March. Not all of these events have been winners, with a really odd balance of being either too hands-on or too hands-off between them all so far. Thankfully the new Wedding Season event that runs for the entire month of June provides a great middle-ground between the two. Read on for all of the details on this new event and how to earn every reward available!

What is the Wedding Season Event?

The Wedding season event is the latest special event to be added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is the first time this event has occurred in the series, and also acts as the first practical use of Harv’s Island since the release of the game.

To start the event, make sure your game version is 1.2.1c and that you have Harv’s Island unlocked. Once you start up your game with those conditions met, visit Harv’s Island where you’ll see him speaking with Reese & Cyrus outside of his “studio”.

Harv will explain that Reese & Cyrus are celebrating their wedding anniversary and want to take photos, but he needs your help because he hasn’t had time to prepare the “studio”. Then the fun begins.

How Does Wedding Season Work?

Each day you can visit Harv’s Island to coordinate a photoshoot for Reese & Cyrus. To get things started, speak with Harv and let him know you want to participate in an anniversary shoot.

Once inside the studio, speak to Reese. She’ll tell you what her desired theme for the day is and leave you to start decorating.

For the first 6 days, Reese will alternate between a ceremony theme & celebration theme. For ceremonies, you want to make ample use of the Wedding Bench item & make things look like a chapel.

For the celebration, use the Wedding Table & Chairs as the focal point and dress the room up like a reception hall.

Starting with the 7th day, Reese will ask you to decorate according to one of 3 different themes. To do this effectively you’ll need to customize the items you place to match the theme, but at that point, you can decorate however you like!

You can even incorporate your own pieces of furniture based on the colors that match each theme. The themes are:

Cute: Pink, White
Chic: Brown, Beige, Black
Garden: Green, Yellow, Brown

For the first several days you’ll be rewarded with items and a special recipe for your hard work. In addition to that, you’ll receive Heart Crystals that can be redeemed for more Wedding themed items from Cyrus.

How to Earn the Most Heart Crystals Each Day

In order to make the most of the event, you’ll definitely want to earn as many Heart Crystals as possible. On days 1-6 you can earn up to 11 crystals each day based on how well you perform, and then from day 7 onward, the max is raised to 15 Heart Crystals.

There isn’t a whole lot of strategy to earn the max each day, which is a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint. For days 1-6 just load the room up with furniture items that match the theme, 16 items is a safe minimum.

From day 7 onward just place at least one of each item & wall decoration, with duplicates of a few for good measure. Then make sure each of them is customized to the proper theme and snap your picture. Reese & Cyrus don’t even care how they’re laid out!

If you do this properly you should be able to earn enough Heart Crystals to get one of each Wedding item in about 14 days (including the gift items). Of course, you don’t have to do it this way, and there’s plenty of fun to be had dressing things up for a proper photoshoot with your villagers in tow!

What are the Rewards?

Of course, the core of any good event in Animal Crossing is the furniture rewards you can earn. Everything in this season is predictably Wedding themed, with a total of 27 pieces of furniture and 2 recipes to earn in total. Many of the items can also be customized to any of the 3 themes from the event as well! These items are only available during this event, so if you want extras be sure to participate as many days as you can!
