Last year mega-hit vocalist Billie Eilish tapped Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create and animate the music video for her single “You Should See Me In A Crown”. The video employed Murakami’s unique and immediately recognizable style combined with some nightmarish visuals that perfectly matched the tone and sound of the track. That collaboration, which was born out of a simple Instagram message, was clearly only the beginning as the two iconic artists are teaming up once again for a collection being released by Uniqlo’s UT graphic tee brand.
Dropping on May 25th via the Uniqlo online store, the new collection features a series of designs for Men, Women, and Children with each different category receiving unique prints.
The designs employ Eilish’s Blohsh symbol, Murakami’s iconic flowers, photos of Eilish, and a UT original Billie Eilish logo in different arrays of configurations and colors across the collection.
Billie Eilish has become one of the most unstoppable artists in music globally over the past few years, and with Takashi Murakami being arguably the most recognizable Japanese contemporary artist on the scene this continued collaboration between the two artists makes perfect sense. The shirts in this collection also merge their most iconic visual elements in a way that works seamlessly for their styles and are sure to please fans of either artist and definitely more so for fans of both.
Items in the collection will run $14.90 for Men’s & Women’s shirts, and $9.90 for children’s shirts. They’ll initially be available at Uniqlo’s online store starting May 25th.
