I will never forget the time: I was a bit younger, standing at my local arcade in Sunnyvale Golfland, and the manager rolled in a beautiful, vibrant blue colored machine that was like no other fighting game cabinet I had ever seen before. When I inspected it closer, it was a game that I had never heard of before, and the name of that game was BlazBlue. Now developer Arc System Works is bringing a BlazBlue spin-off title to mobile devices: BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War.

There is a little bit of a story surrounding BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War. The game was announced all the way back in 2017 and was scheduled to be released in 2018, but here we are in 2021, and the game has still yet to be released. The game is being dubbed as a ‘Chain Combo x RPG’ title that is expected to have a the story with quite a large amount of text. The title is more or less a prequel as it takes place during the Dark War that set the entire BlazBlue story in motion.

Developer Arc System Works has not announced a solid release date for BlazBlue Alternative: Dark War aside from February. Even more, they have not announced if the game will be making its way overseas either. If I were a betting man, I would think that it will get an international release eventually, but it might take some time. Maybe more than fans are willing to wait for.
