The start of 2020 has been something to really behold. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused worldwide hysteria with events, social gatherings, conventions, and other numerous happenings either being delayed significantly or canceled outright. Now we have the next victim of the Coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 Spring anime line-up being delayed.
A number of the Spring anime releases are being delayed or possibly even canceled outright. At this time, where no direct cancelations have been announced, they have been discussed as happening. For starters, A3! and the follow up to Re:Zero are being significantly delayed due to production issues arising from the Coronavirus.
I don’t know about you, but I was really looking forward to the continuation of Re:Zero and now that it’s being delayed until an undisclosed time, it makes me really depressed. Many of the things that I look forward throughout the year have been severely impacted by this pandemic which makes things just a little hard to get excited for.
The development of anime series being delayed due to Coronavirus is still ongoing and I can almost guarantee you that these two series being delayed are just the beginning. I think that as the days go on and things unfortunately and unenviably get worse, we’re going to see this happening with more series. Whereas the anime studios and the industry as a whole are thriving with a series of hit movies that have come out recently, the impact of the Coronavirus is sending them into an unexpected pitfall.
As I’ve said in my previous articles which have related to COVID-19, I can’t wait for these dark days are behind us sooner rather than later. The delays related anime series release due to the Coronavirus is just the next chapter of this horror. With a number of locations throughout the world on essential lock-down, the best we can do at this point is relive the moments in the previous series that we have found to hit that special place in our hearts and ride this travesty out.
