Following anniversary releases of Danganronpa 1 and 2 on mobile devices last year, fans will soon be able to play the full Danganronpa trilogy on mobile devices with the unveiling of the iOS and Android port of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.
While the Danganronpa trilogy is rather accessible (following releases of the games on PC and PS4 alongside their original release on PlayStation Vita), this trilogy of death game visual novel/mystery titles has found a new subset of fans on mobile. In celebration of the series’ 10th anniversary, and in somewhat of a capitalization on the series’ popularity on TikTok, new anniversary releases of the first two Danganronpa games were released on iOS and Android. Now, Danganronpa V3 will also be released to round out the trilogy.
When the 10th anniversary celebrations kicked off in April last year, it was announced that all three mainline Danganronpa games would be released on mobile games. However, silence surrounded the port of Danganronpa V3 following the release of the second game last summer. Now that the game has been officially unveiled, we have learned that this port will include the concept art and character galleries added to previous ports, alongside all the content included in the base game on other platforms.
All gameplay for the title has been adapted for mobile devices and touch screens, with a brand new UI to ensure the game is easy to view and play on everything from small phones to large tablets.
I’ve experienced the Danganronpa trilogy for the first time thanks to these mobile ports, playing through the first two titles in the series on iPad. Each port has felt polished, setting a standard I hope Spike Chunsoft will adhere to with the port of the final game in the series. While no date has currently been announced for Danganronpa V3’s release on iOS and Android at this time, the fact we now have images showcasing the game in action suggests a release is just around the corner.
