It’s become the norm this year for many conventions to take their events online as a result of COVID-19 and the cancelations it’s caused, but even with the influx of digital events, there are some that really stand out above the rest. This weekend our friends at Kumoricon and FAKE STAR aim to count the Digikumo online convention event among the ranks of streaming events you just can’t miss. Even though the event is underway extremely soon, some exciting last-minute surprise announcements have really upped the ante.
The first of these major events starts off on Friday night (11/6) at 7 pm with a performance from Japanese rock outfit ACME. Visual Kei fans might be familiar with them as a group that’s rising among the ranks, but those who have listened to their music will surely be aware that they have plenty to their sound and style that sets them apart from their contemporaries. Their performance at Digikumo is stacking up to be extra special as they’re presenting it in a format akin to a concert documentary with exclusive behind the scenes content and high production value.
Following the ACME concert, our friends and fan favorites at Studio TRIGGER are hosting a live chat panel from 8:15-9:15. Every TRIGGER panel is a special event all in itself, each with a unique vibe and takeaways that any fan is definitely going to want to catch. We had a ton of fun chatting with them during our OTAQUEST CONNECT event earlier this year, so we can say first hand that you’re not going to want to miss out. We’re definitely going to be tuning in ourselves.
Then, later on Friday night at 9:15 pm Ghost Neko’s Socially Distant Dance Party! adds Japanese club mainstays TeddyLoid and TORIENA to the fray with a DJ set and Live performance all on deck. If you caught TeddyLoid’s set during our SYNERGY -Stay Home Edition- event earlier this year then you’ll know that he brings the heat during his sets, and this time around is certain to be another can’t miss occurrence. TORIENA will be putting on a special live performance set, and believe me when I say that she’s another artist you definitely don’t want to miss. She’s been a favorite amongst staff of the site for quite some time, and her unique flavor and fantastic range are certain to hook you immediately.
These 3 events are just the tip of the iceberg too, with a ton of fantastic panel content arranged and occurring over the weekend. I recommend checking out the full schedule so you can plan accordingly.
Registration for the event itself is free, although 18+ events will require a $1 registration fee for the sake of age verification. It’s honestly a small price to pay for all of the fantastic content being served up, but your mileage may vary depending on which events you’re interested in. If you want to see what else is on deck and get more information, check out the official Digikumo website for more details!
