It was just yesterday that we wrote about some pretty major upcoming changes for the One Piece television anime series. From the staff behind the project to the face of some of anime’s most iconic characters, the changes are certainly going to be noted. But there are two other sides to the One Piece universe that are just as important. Namely, Eiichiro Oda’s incredible source material manga and the ever-expanding One Piece anime film universe. We’ve written several times in the past about the upcoming entry into the anime film universe, ONE PIECE STAMPEDE, but today we received our latest reason to be excited about the project — an all-new key visual penned by the mastermind Eiichiro Oda.
While previous visuals for the film have focused on the massive cast in anime form, there’s something entirely mesmerizing about Oda’s signature style that looks so great in action. Side by side you can definitely see the difference in impact, though I must admit seeing everyone together on the original visual did bring forward some genuine excitement. While the film does feature a massive roster of characters from the anime series and manga, it’s also set to boast several original characters as designed by Eiichiro Oda for the film. Continually performing as the best-selling manga of all-time in Japan, it really does seem like there’s no slowing down One Piece, even if Oda has hinted at it several times in the past.
Set to hit theaters across Japan on August 9, 2019, ONE PIECE STAMPEDE is definitely shaping up to be a film not to miss. It’s the latest in the now long-running roster of anime films from teh franchise, and one that we’re definitely excited to experience.
