Sumito Owara’s Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken (映像研には手を出すな!) is getting a live-action adaption by way of a film. The manga has revealed that the film will be opening on May 15th nationwide. Furthermore, there will be a six-episode mini-series that will feature the same cast and staff as the movie. The mini-series will be airing on MBS starting April 5th and TBS on April 7th.
Three members of Nogizaka46 are playing the cast for the protagonists Sayaka Kanamori, Tsubame Mizusaki, and Midori Asakusa. Specifically, Minami Umezawa, Mizuki Yamashita, and my favorite girl (my god, I’m so happy she’s in this) Asuka Saito. The director of the live-action series, Tsutomu Hanabusa (3D Kanojo Real Girl, Kakeguri, and Asahinagu).
One could assume that the film would follow the story of the manga where the three girls come together in the eizouken (Film Club) to make their own anime. The three of them split the tasks of the project to make their dreams come to reality.
Additionally, there is also an anime that is currently airing on Crunchyroll across much of the world. The anime is a total of 12 episodes long, created by Masaaki Yuasa and Science SARU. The anime is airing on NHK-G in Japan starting earlier this year on January 5th.
Where I have yet to take the dive into the series, I have seen nothing but good reviews and have heard nothing but praise for the Eizouken anime and manga. I’m positive that the Eizouken live-action adaption of the manga will bring many fans to want to see what the story is all about. I’m even more interested in seeing how the transition from the manga to the silver-screen will play out.
