I’d be lying if I said it truly didn’t feel like only yesterday that the Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution trilogy was announced. I remember sitting in pre-announcement, I remember covering the news, I remember it all — that’s just how it is over here. But now, two years after the trilogy was originally announced with a yearly release schedule, the third entry into the series Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution 3 has officially been announced for a 2021 release date; if you’re crunching the math right now, that’s a little off the yearly schedule. Given the drastic turn that the second entry into the reboot film trilogy took from the original anime series, this shouldn’t come as all too much surprise. With such drastic change, adequate time needs to be taken to make sure that the conclusion hits in just the right way.
Following a dramatic shift from the original Eureka Seven story, the film trilogy looks to conclude with the upcoming 2021 film release.
It’s been a wild ride for the Eureka Seven world since it was originally introduced all the way back in 2005. We’ve gone through multiple iterations, multiple multi-format stories, and now finally, the modern film trilogy that aims to retell the story once more. Of course, it’s been an almost fifteen years since the original series release, which is a whole lot of time for everyone involved to deliberate just what they might want to change in the series. Whether you’ve seen the original anime or not, this film trilogy is definitely a journey from start to finish.
