Two years after first being announced, the anime Extra-Terrestrial Boys & Girls (Chikyugai Shonen Shojo) is starting to take shape.
On Tuesday, the creators of the original science-fiction space story made several interesting announcements.
Also, the creators of the new anime put together a new website for the anime, with a new teaser visual. The visual shows children apparently floating or falling in space.
In addition, director Mitsuo Iso posted an unofficial video to his Twitter account. Although unofficial, the creative and artistic video certainly gives some idea of what this anime might be like.

On Twitter, Iso states that he made the video last year using material from the planning stage of the anime.
Iso has been involved in many different anime series and movies. He provided key animation for either all or parts of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rurouni Kenshin, RahXephon, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and FLCL, among others.
His directorial debut was Denno Coil (2007), a science-fiction anime series about augmented reality.
What is Extra-Terrestrial Boys & Girls?
According to reports, the Extra-Terrestrial Boys & Girls anime will take place in 2045. The story apparently revolves around a bunch of children who are stranded in space. After an accident on a Japanese space station, these children must overcome various crises to survive in space.
The early announcements didn’t make it clear if this will be a television anime series or an animated movie. The anime is also not based on a light novel, manga, or other source which can be checked for story details. Instead, the anime will be an original story.
The project was first announced at the Anime Central convention in 2018.
Avex Pictures is one of the main sponsors investing in the project, along with Asmik Ace and others.
