Family Mart Launches Famichiki Buns for Your Famichiki Burger Pleasures

Famichiki buns

When I first saw this pop up in my inbox today, I didn’t know how to feel about it. I took some time to think about it and kind of process it all, so I could have a clear understanding of just exactly what the world was coming to. You see, there are a couple of things that are on almost everyone’s list when they come to Japan for the first time. Those things usually consist of Strong Zero, Egg Salad Sandwiches from Lawson, and Family Mart’s Famichiki. Family Mart has taken the Famichiki to the next level with the introduction of their new Famichiki Burger Buns.Famichiki Buns

For those of you who don’t know about the magic that is Famichiki, it essentially is one of the driving forces behind all of Family Mart’s success (so much that rival Lawson tried to copy it). There is something about them that is undeniably delicious, and with the advent of the Famichiki Buns, the convenience store chain has performed some sort of black magic sorcery to take Famichiki to the next level. The concept is simple: you purchase your piece of Famichiki for ¥120, then you purchase the buns separately for an additional ¥82, and put the Famichiki inside of the buns. The buns come with tartar sauce already inside of them, so you have that added splash of flavor that may (or may not) have been missing from the initial Famichiki itself.

The Famichiki Burger Buns are on sale currently at Family Mart locations nationwide and seem to have been quite the hit . At the three Family Mart locations that I went to today, they were all sold out. Maybe later this week, the stars will align and I can give this gift from heaven a taste.
