Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VIII Remastered on both iOS and Android, worldwide.
This is something that I can honestly say I didn’t see coming. Back in 2019, Square Enix released a remastered version of their polarizing Final Fantasy VIII game for pretty much every console under the sun. However, even though they were completely capable of running the title, mobile was suspiciously absent from the release lineup. Until now.
Final Fantasy VIII was originally released on Sony’s PlayStation console in 1999 and was critically acclaimed for its graphics and story. Sure there were parts of the game that were less than favorable (I’m looking at you Draw system), but overall the game was an absolute masterpiece, and I dare say, much better than Final Fantasy VII.
If you haven’t had the chance to play the title, now you really have no excuse as the game is available for your mobile device and only costs $16.99 to purchase until 4 April 2021, when it will go up to $20.99. Definitely a fair price considering you’re going to get at least 40 hours worth of gameplay out of it.
Now that you can get Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX on mobile devices, you should have plenty of games to play while we wait for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis next year.
