Whenever I look back at bands that defined my teenage years, there are few names that come to mind faster than Gesu no Kiwami Otome. Entire friendships were made around the band for me, and some of my earliest live experiences in Japan were seeing them perform live at various end-of-year events. I was pretty obsessed, to say the least. Now, several years later, the band is starting to hit their stride again. Ahead of the release of their upcoming April 2020 album “Streaming, CD, Record”, the band has dropped the first single “Killer Ball o Moichido” via all major streaming services across the globe.
Set to be their first album since 2018, Gesu no Kiwami Otome’s latest single “Killer Ball o Moichido” is our first taste of what’s to come when “Streaming, CD, Record” releases in 2020.
We’ve seen quite a few evolutions for Gesu no Kiwami Otome over the years, and with “Streaming, CD, Record” set to be the band’s first album since 2018, it’ll be interesting to see just what direction they head. Given lead member Enon Kawatani’s involvement in numerous musical projects, including that of our frequently covered Genie High, we’re sure we’ll be seeing a spectrum of influences embedded into this release; something you can already see on their latest number.
Announced alongside the release of the album, Gesu no Kiwami Otome will also be embarking on a nationwide tour, officially set to kick off in May 2020, giving fans a chance to spend a little time with the album ahead of the shows.
Available for streaming globally now ahead of their upcoming album, those interested in checking out additional information on what’s to come from Gesu no Kiwami Otome can head over to the band’s official website. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as additional news is revealed.
