Netflix in collaboration with TOHO and Polygon Pictures have today announced that their upcoming collaborative animated Godzilla film will be available worldwide for users of the Netflix service. The film will be screened in theaters worldwide alongside a coordinated streamed release through Netflix.
Simply titled ‘Godzilla’, the film will be the first animated feature-length entry into the long-running franchise’s catalogue. The entry finds its footing following the commercial and critical success of its predecessor, Shin Godzilla, a film that secured more than $69 million in box office sales. Directed by Kobun Shizuno, alongside partner Hiroyuki Seshita, the film is currently slated for a 2017 release.
Announced via their social media platforms, the six main voice actors will be making appearances at the upcoming Anime Japan 2017 event on March 26. Attached to the posting was a “rough sketch” of the film, found below.
