The Gundam EXTREME vs. series is a game that has a mixed fanbase as well as mixed gameplay, but one thing is for sure, the game is full of action. The next entry in the Gundam EXTREME vs. series initially had its release in Japanese arcades back in 2016 with its network services being terminated in 2019. But Bandai Namco has answered fans pleas to bring the game to PS4 and have announced that it will be releasing Gundam EXTREME vs. Maxiboost ON for the platform worldwide on July 30th, 2020.
Even more, the announced that the game will be getting a network beta test this month, starting on April 25th! If you have a Japanese PSN account, I don’t see anything stopping you from being able to partake in the festivities. Aside from the fact that you MIGHT need to have a Japanese PlayStation Plus account. Either way, this is yet one more thing to keep you occupied while you have to be confined to your house if you’re on mandatory lockdown. There is a North American network test coming, but that date hasn’t been announced quite yet.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Gundam EXTREME vs. series, it’s a two on two real-time battle game where players have the ability to choose from 183 units spanning 36 different works. Even better, it has already been announced to be getting a North American release, a first in the series.
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play the game while it was in arcades out here in Tokyo and I can attest to the fact that the game is fast-paced, intense, and something that really keeps you on your feet as you try to stay alive. The fact that the game is now getting a western release just means that competition will be that much more fierce and I for one, am looking forward to that.
