hima:// KAWAGOE Artbook Released, Available Worldwide

hima:// KAWAGOE

Once a part of the OTAQUEST family, always a part of the OTAQUEST family.

Made possible by crowdfunding and the selflessness of over 450 people, the final art book of the late artist hima:// KAWAGOE is coming next month. At over 200 pages, the tome is a celebration of her one-of-a-kind artistic spirit, and contains a massive of her works made between 2007 to 2020. It’s also available for purchase to those living outside of Japan.

hima://KAWAGOE was the creator of URA-chan, our beloved OTAQUEST mascot, and a close friend and constant source of inspiration to our staff. In an interview last year, she spoke candidly about her journey in the art world and her creative vision of URA-chan’s backstory and journey. On our Instagram page, you may have seen her incredible URASTAGRAM collection, blending our digital girl mascot with traditional Japanese locales.

Though hima:// KAWAGOE passed away last August, we’re honored to keep her art alive. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all those who supported the creation of this collection on Campfire, and to NEMOBRAND, a close friend of hima, who designed the book.

No matter where you live, you can order THE COLLECTION: hima:// KAWAGOE Last Artworks from Tokyo Otaku Mode. While an exact release date isn’t listed, it should make its way to you in June.
