Hobonichi Techo 2021 Designs Let You Organize Your Life With Doraemon, Ranma 1/2

Hobonichi are a lot of things. They’re a lifestyle brand founded by the famed Shigesato Itoi known for producing a variety of high-quality items people from eco-friendly bags to calendars and more. They also occasionally publish books, such as the Satoru Iwata memorial book that’s set to receive an English release soon. What they’re most known for, however, are their planners, with a highly customizable minimalist design and beautiful fabric covers that have made their company known the world over. The designs for Hobonichi Techo 2021 planners are now online, with a huge range of manga-inspired designs in their lineup this year.

A mammoth 62 cover designs for Hobonichi’s line of planners are available in total for the most popular A6-sized plannerthis year, offering plenty of variety and styles to suit any interest. Beyond the plain block color and pattern design that make their yearly re-appearance, a number of unique designs in the 2021 lineup stand out. We’ve previously discussed these ones as part of our coverage of Hobonichi’s Mother Collection, but some of this year’s lineup features designs based on the Mother series, and these maintain some of the surrealist stylings the series is known for while still being muted. Sesame Street characters have been used for some of this year’s covers, and I’m also a fan of the Candy Stripper Spruced-Up Cat cover as well as the cover by Ryoji Arai.

Perhaps most interesting of all is the Manga Classics collection, which takes a number of classic manga properties and turns them into covers for their Hobonichi Techo 2021 planners. You have a blueprint design based on Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy, a design based on Doraemon and, perhaps my favorite of all, a gingham pattern design inspired by Ranma 1/2. A Japan-only Chibi Maruko-Chan cover is also available, and multiple other continuing Doraemon covers previously made are also available this year.

While the wallet-sized design isn’t what I would personally go for when selecting a planner, some alternative designs are also available in this sizing, including a beautiful Sunshine After Rain Chibi Maruko-Chan cover.

All of these Hobonichi Techo 2021 covers go on sale in stages starting from September 1st. To learn the exact date each edition will be available, please check the Hobonichi official website.
