After almost three months, Konami has started updating it’s beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE arcade game again, today. With a couple of updates that admittedly had already been on the game since the previous update was pushed to the machine, due to the state of emergency in Japan surrounding the whole COVID-19 situation they laid dormant until today.
Announced via the official beatmania IIDX Twitter page the other day, we got a two for one package of content today. The first of which are two licensed songs from immensely popular Japanese EDM artists banvox and Masayoshi Iimori. With both tracks being from their most recent album releases, they’re nice additions to the game.
[Dance Music] banvox – Sellout
[Switch Up] Masayoshi Iimori – Punching Down (IIDX MIX)
Then, even more exciting than these two songs being added to the game, players were blessed with the third phase of the event “Heroic Workout”. As with previous Heroic Workout phases, the unlock game itself rewards players based on the types of songs they play. The goal is to fill up a gauge in one of 3 points focused on different elements that make up the note charts. For example, a scratch heavy song is focused on a different part of the gauge than a song that might have a lot of drumrolls or scales. It forces players to think about their song choices if they want to complete each portion. Room 1 of the unlock game took place in a gym, Room 2 takes place outside in the world our characters inhabit, and Room 3 takes place in what looks like a pool area.
There are a total of 5 songs to unlock in Room 3, and they are:
[Big Beat / Dubstep] Yamato – Level 2
[Funky Gabber] lapix – Double Dribble
[Darkstep] BEMANI Sound Team “Syunn” – Lost Souls
[World / Contemporary] Nekomata Master – The Sky of Sadness
[Prime Big Beat] Ajurika – Beat Prisoner
There is still no indication as to when the Heroic Workout event will be coming to a close, but if you were to follow previous events from past games, this could be the last phase of the event. Furthermore, going into the Summer, we’re usually treated to a location test of the next version of the game, but with COVID-19, there is no promise that it is still possible to do.
Either way, I am excited to see what further secrets Konami has in store for beatmania IIDX HEROIC VERSE updates and look forward even more when I get to go to the arcade again to play.
