Introduction to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu [OTAQUEST LIVE]

If there was ever to be an artist who needed absolutely no introduction, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu would have to be that person. You know her, you’ve danced to her music, and without a doubt, you’ve spent hours of your life looking at all the little intricacies of her mind-boggling music videos. In the current day, there are few Japanese musicians more internationally recognized than Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and that’s not without some very good reasons. Originally bursting out of her Harajuku locale onto the global scene with the release of her debut single “Pon Pon Pon” in 2011 at age 18, Kyary has been the voice behind some of the nation’s most viral music.

Since her debut in 2011, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has embarked on four world tours and eight nationwide tours across Japan. She’s released a total of four albums, with two of them reaching #1 on the Oricon Charts, and is also a multi-platinum recording artist. Believe me when I say that she’s a pretty big deal. Outside of Kyary’s expansive music career, she’s also best known for her appearances on Japanese variety television shows, as well as being the most followed female in Japan on social media. Departing the JR line at Harajuku Station, you’ll immediately see all of the pillars lining the stating adorned with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s imagery, which is probably the most surreal aspect of it all. In Harajuku, where the musician grew, she’s a legend.

Following the massive release of Kyary’s latest album, “Japamyu”, we can’t wait to see what Kyary Pamyu Pamyu brings to the stage at OTAQUEST LIVE. Her energy and distinct charm have left us, as well as audiences across the globe, captivated for eight years now, and we can only hope to see it for years to come. From “Nanda Collection” to “Japamyu”, every step of the journey has been an absolute treat, and we’re sure everyone is just as excited as we are to have Kyary Pamyu Pamyu back in North America.

We’re beyond excited to have not just Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, but also Yasutaka Nakata and CAPSULE all perform with us at OTAQUEST LIVE and OTAQUEST KICKOFF 2019, and we can’t wait to see everyone there. Taking place at THE NOVO by Microsoft in Los Angeles on July 3, 2019, this definitely isn’t an event you want to miss. If you haven’t secured your ticket yet, you can check out further details via OTAQUEST LIVE’s official website.
