The anison supergroup JAM Project turned 20 years old in 2020. To commemorate this special event, they will release a documentary film, Get Over – JAM Project The Movie.
The movie will have a limited roadshow run from 26 February to 11 March at various Japanese theaters. They also have a playlist of short JAM Project movie-related YouTube videos, and also a promo video for the film:
If you’re a fan of anime, chances are you’re familiar with at least one theme song or some of the music created by a member of this group (especially some of the more hard rocking and memorable anime songs), even if you don’t recognize the name.
The group currently consists of Hironobu Kageyama (Cha-La Head-Cha-La from Dragon Ball Z), Masaaki Endoh (Metal Brothers with Kageyama), Hiroshi Kitadani (We Are! From One Piece), Masami Okui (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Slayers), and Yoshiki Fukuyama (songs for Macross 7).
Previous members include Ichirou Mizuki (Mazinger Z), Eizo Sakamoto (lead singer for Anthem and Animetal), and Rica Matsumoto (voice of Satoshi and theme songs for Pokémon).
As a group, they performed songs for Super Robot Wars, Sgt. Frog, One-Punch Man, and others.
Naturally, a group which has done so much for the anime industry would get a lot of congratulatory messages and art, including from Slayers illustrator Rui Araizumi: ‘Congratulations! Soul & Spirit. A new first step for a passionate team that sings both, and a passing point for the future.’
The group has also toured internationally, including the 2012 Japan-America Anison Summit with Animetal USA.
You can find more information about the movie at the Get Over website.
