While it would perhaps be the last franchise I would think would see an adaptation that utilizes the battle royale phenomenon that has dominated gaming over the past 12 months, it has been announced that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will be receiving a ‘Stand Battle Royale’ title in arcades in 2019.
Titled ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor’ and set for an arcade debut in the summer of 2019, the title will be an online-enabled arcade experience costing 100 yen per play that allows up to 20 players to compete against each other in an attempt to be the last one standing.
Players will choose from a variety of characters and stands from parts 3-5 of the franchise that they will then use to compete against others. A brief trailer, narrated by the character D’.A.R.B.Y, provides players with a brief look at the environment within which this 20-player battle royale title will take place in.
Although this title is not set to launch in arcades until next summer, alongside the announcement of this game’s existence was the information that there will be a location test that will allow players to test out the mechanics of the title in January. Where these tests will take place has currently not been confirmed, however. Locations for this test once they have been announced, alongside further details, should become available on the title’s official website as we get closer to the game’s summer 2019 arcade launch.
