I think I can speak for most of us when I say the announcement of a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure battle royal-style game was shocking, to say the least. Sure, Fortnite has definitely taken over the entire gaming world, that comes with no doubt. However, the concept of getting to use your favorite JoJo’s characters and stands to pick people off one by one? Almost sounds too good to be true. With all that being said, Bandai Namco has announced that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor has been pushed back until winter 2019; hopefully, they’ve made the choice to push back this highly-anticipated arcade game to make sure they get this ambitious concept down right. In the meantime, here’s a new trailer that shows off a ton of gameplay.
As you can see, Last Survivor offers a wealth of playable characters from Stardust Crusaders, Diamond Is Unbreakable, and the Golden Wind eras of JoJo. It’s not just the ‘JoJos’ themselves either; you play as any number of favorites including Koichi, Bruno Bucciarati, Rohan, Kakyoin, and more. Each of their stands and abilities are faithfully recreated too. For instance, the above trailer shows Giorno quickly growings trees out of the ground to get some leverage. That could be a very useful tactic in a battle royal situation where you need to quickly get out of the way of an ‘ora ra ra ra ra ra’ punching barrage from Star Platinum.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind is set to finally end in an hour-long finally on August 28 after a couple of weeks off-air. I’ve certainly enjoyed the Italian journey, although maybe not as much as I loved Part 4. Still, there’s a lot to appreciate in Part 5’s cast, fights, and story. I mean, just look at all of these incredible outfits. Araki has always been interested in fashion but he really stepped it up with the iteration of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. I guess we can kill time playing Last Survivor during the inevitable wait for Part 6.
If you live in Japan, you’ll get to play Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Last Survivor in Arcades this winter.
