This year’s Jump Anime Festa is streaming online for 2020, offering an unprecedented opportunity for western fans. Usually taking place in Japan in real life, Jump Anime Festa 2020 will deliver the latest information on the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba movie, Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime, and Dr. STONE second season project. Along with some exclusive content and panels, this is one event that fans of Shonen Jump won’t want to miss.
Jump Anime Festa usually takes place in real life, although not every year as the Jump Festa proper does – the last event was in 2018, taking place across seven cities in nine different venues. Obviously, the current situation with the Coronavirus makes this impossible, and so this year, the Jump Anime Festa 2020 will be streaming exclusively via the official Shonen Jump YouTube channel. This means that fans outside of Japan can be in with a chance of experiencing it for the very first time.
The event will take the form of a live show delivering the latest information on all of the upcoming Shonen Jump anime projects, but that’s not all. There will also be live panels for the Kimetsu no Yaiba movie and Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime, as well as other exclusive content. One project that we do know about is an ‘original anime’ for the Jump Plus series Boukyaku Battery, although fans are urged to wait for further information.
In many ways, the Coronavirus pandemic is making Japanese culture more accessible than ever, and Jump Anime Festa 2020 is no exception. While a trip to Japan may have been in order in the past to attend the event, you can do so this year from the comfort of your own home – what’s not to like?
The only spanner in the works would be if Shueisha decided to restrict the livestream to Japan only, but the company doesn’t have a history of doing this. What’s more, a good VPN would be able to get around this. Either way, we’ll be covering all of the exciting information that comes out of this event when it begins in October, so stay tuned.
Jump Anime Festa will stream via the official Shonen Jump YouTube channel on October 11. Check the official website for more details.
