The title can also be read, This Is It! Seisaku Shinko Shinonome Jiro.
According to reports, new videos will continue to go up over the weekend, with more details coming on Oct. 27.
Appropriately enough for a story about an anime production assistant, the teaser videos all look like storyboards or layouts for an anime project, presumably the This Is It! project.
The videos even have those animation paper peg holes at the top. (If you’ve seen Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, you know the ones I mean.)
There’s no actual animation in the YouTube videos. But there is plenty of dialogue — again, presumably the voice actors for This Is It! — along with some background music and sound effects.
So What Is This Is It?
So, this would appear to be an original production, rather than an adaptation.
The first video features Tasuku Hatanaka as the title character, Jiro Shinonome. He’s also Denki Kaminari in My Hero Academia (among other things). Hisako Kanemoto is Inori Amamitsuki, a friend of Jiro’s.
She was the voice of Ika Musume, Sailor Mercury in Sailor Moon Crystal, etc.
In the first video, Inori is offering encouragement to Jiro, who is about to become a production assistant.
Yoko Hikasa (Mio in K-On!) is Ami Azusa, and Maaya Uchida (Syaro in Is The Order A Rabbit?) voices Ichimakase An. They appear to be discussing the production, among other things.
The third video features Shizuka Ito, Show Hayami, and Soma Saito.
Yuichiro Momose (Hypnosis Mic – Division Rap Battle) did the screenplay for the videos. Sekihiko Inui (Murder Princess, Ratman) did the illustration.
There have been anime series about making anime before, such as Shirobako.
Also, if you take just the Seisaku Shinko part of the title, there was an anime OVA Seisaku Shinko Kuromi-chan, or Animation Runner Kuromi, in 2001. This Is It!, whatever It is, is probably unrelated.
Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to see what Kadokawa has planned.
