Toei announced that Kamen Rider Agito is going to be shared on YouTube in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the series.
It was just yesterday that I was writing an article about the new Ultraman Zero tenth anniversary figure, and I mentioned that Kamen Rider is quite possibly my second favorite series thanks to my son. That’s really good timing.
Kamen Rider Agito is the second Kamen Rider series that was made in the Heisei-era and it aired on Japanese TV between 2001 and 2002. The story follows three young men whose stories intersect. The official synopsis of the series is as follows:
Two years have passed since the end of the ‘Unidentified Life Form Incident,’ and one day, mysterious technology washes up on the shores of Okinawa Prefecture. This is the start of a series of murders in various places by methods impossible for humans. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department named the unknown monster responsible for the murders ‘Unknown’.
Shoichi Tsugami, a man who is already a Kamen Rider.
Makoto Hikawa, the man who wants to become a Kamen Rider, and Ryo Ashihara, the man who has recently become a Kamen Rider. The fates of these three Kamen Riders intersect.
The series ran for 51 episodes. Each episode will be uploaded to the official Toei Tokusatsu World YouTube channel in sequential order week after week on Saturdays at 9 p.m. Japan Standard Time. The first episode will be going up tomorrow, 13 March 2021. Each episode will be available for one week.
If you’re a fan of the Kamen Rider series and have yet to see Kamen Rider Agito, I would recommend checking it out. It’s one of my favorite in the Kamen Rider universe and really deserves to have more western fans.
