KONAMI Starts Teasing Imminent BEMANI PRO LEAGUE Start

Today, KONAMI shared a video on their official BEMANI PRO LEAGUE Twitter account, teasing that the event is about to get underway.

KONAMI announced BEMANI PRO LEAGUE, their upcoming esports venture, back in the beginning of 2020. The season was expected to kick off in the same year, but because of the pandemic, those plans were put on hold. Instead, there was a sort of preliminary season held in the form of BEMANI PRO LEAGUE ZERO.

The tweet outlined that the league in its official full capacity is about to kick off and that players will be taking their pro-tests, which will then allow them to be drafted to one of the six teams that will be vying for the top spot team in beatmania IIDX. The winning team of the first season will win ¥20,000,000 (Approx. $190k USD). Each of the rounds in the season will be taking place at KONAMI’s eSports Arena at their new Ginza headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

I feel that the BEMANI PRO LEAGUE is going to be a great event once it gets underway. Especially if you’re a fan of watching top-level beatmania IIDX players go at it head to head in a battle for supremacy.

KONAMI has yet to give an official start date for the BEMANI PRO LEAGUE, but now that they’re actually advertising it as ‘starting soon’, I guess it could start in the next month or so. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: if you’re into rhythm games, this is one esports event that you’re not going to want to miss out on.
