Layton’s Mystery Journey Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

These days, game studio Level-5 is probably best known for the Ni No Kuni and Yokai Watch series. It’s hard to beat the ‘Ghibli RPG series’ and ‘this totally isn’t Pokémon, we promise’ but, among a number of other franchises, the studio’s Professor Layton puzzle game franchise too has its fans. The latest entry, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS a couple of years ago, the upcoming release marks the series’ first appearance on the Nintendo Switch. It’ll drop November 8.

Layton's Mystery Journey Is Coming To The Switch

There have been rumors about a Switch release for this game ever since about a year ago, but there’s been no official confirmation or announcement until now. Even though Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy is not a brand new game, this remastered edition will prove to be the definitive experience and a great entry point into the series. The graphics have been completely reworked for Switch standards with over 50 outfits to collect throughout the game. Over 40 new puzzles have been added to this ‘deluxe edition’ as well as previous DLC released for earlier versions of the game.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy was kind of a soft relaunch of the franchise. It’s the first game not to feature the face of the franchise, Professor Layton. Instead, the player takes on the role of ‘Kat’ Layton, the professor’s daughter who’s searching for her missing father. This particular entry in the series even inspired a weekly anime series that ran for a full year, ending this past March. If you’ve never played a Layton game, here’s your chance to hop in for a fresh start. They’re great fun and filled with endless charm.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy – Deluxe Edition – will be available for the Nintendo Switch November 8.
