McDonald’s Japan Serves Up Limited Caramel Banana Tart Dessert

Caramel Banana Tart Top

If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, Japan is the land of limited edition food items at fast-food chains. There is ALWAYS something going on at any given fast-food chain that is either a limited-time food item, limited-time additional food, or something along those lines and it makes me happy. McDonald’s in Japan is never one to disappoint as they consistently have something limited on their menu each month. It could be the Tsukimi Burger, a limited edition flavor milkshake, a special flavor of their shaka-shaka fries, or even something as simple as a new flavor of dip for their chicken nuggets. Now that we’re going into the holiday season, McDonald’s Japan has announced that they will be offering a new dessert option on their menu which is the Caramel Banana Tart.

Caramel Banana Tart

I might be oblivious to this or completely wrong, but I rarely see McDonald’s Japan touch their dessert menu with limited edition items frequently. I mean they have in the past, but it’s not something that you see multiple times a year, only a couple if that. But this time, they have outdone themselves if you ask me. They have taken a tart and made it caramel banana flavor which just screams deliciousness to me. A translation of the official announcement from McDonald’s Japan reads as follows:

The Caramel Banana Tart is a savory cocoa-infused tart, baked with almond cream with banana puree, layered with smooth caramel cream, topped with bittersweet caramel sauce and roasted almond slices. The sweetness and bittersweetness of the caramel cream enhance the natural sweetness of the bananas, making it a perfect accompaniment for coffee. It is the perfect cake to enjoy with a hot drink and a sweet sweet treat during the chilly season of autumn.

If you’re in Japan, the Caramel Banana Tart is available starting today for ¥350 at McDonald’s by BARISTA locations and will be available until the middle of January. So if you’re looking to get your sweet fix on, I think this will hit that spot.
