The spin-off Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club will be getting a second season starting next year in 2022.
Love Live!, the joint project between SUNRISE, Lantis, and ASCII Media Works, has become a multimedia worldwide hit spanning close to eleven years, covering almost every aspect of consumer consumption from games, music albums, films, and TV anime to physical goods.
The first season of Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club hit Japanese airwaves back on 3 October 2020 and has been a raving hit for the series. If you’re unfamiliar with the series or the spin-off, here is a brief synopsis of the first season from the official homepage:
Nijigasaki High School, located on the island of Odaiba in Tokyo, is popular for its variety of class subjects and the freedom given to students.
Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the ‘School Idol Club’ with her old friend Ayumu Uehara.
Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each bring their own thoughts and motivations to their lives.
‘If I can cheer on people who’re pursuing their dreams…’
Featuring nine girls (plus one), it’s the first School Idol Project where everyone comes together to make dreams come true.
Keep in mind that this announcement is separate from Love Live! Superstar!!, which is a completely different project.
As of the time of this writing, there has been no more info about the second season of Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club aside from the fact that we should expect it to be coming next year.
