When I woke up today, I just knew it was going to be an EVANGELION news day. I mean, it’s the one-week anniversary of EVANGELION 3.0+1.0 being out in theaters in Japan, so it kinda makes sense, right?
The ‘Memorial Crystal’ was announced in the commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the release of EVANGELION 3.0+1.0 in Japanese theaters. The Memorial Crystal sees Rei Ayanami suspended upside down, similar to the ending in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and being supported by an LED that displays seven different colors.
EVA STORE made the following announcement about the release:
The heroine, Rei Ayanami, has been realistically recreated in 3D sculpted crystal. The cylindrical crystal allows for a 360° view of Rei’s fragile yet beautiful body. The pedestal, which emits light in seven different colors, can be rotated. It is reminiscent of the ending of ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion,’ with Rei swaying in the water. It’s a great way to look back on your memories of ‘Evangelion’ and reward yourself or give it as a gift to someone special. We hope you’ll enjoy watching it slowly rotate.
The Rei Ayanami Memorial Crystal will be available for pre-order starting today and is expected to start shipping to customers in June 2021. If you’re looking to get this for your collection, it will set you back ¥11,000. You can pick them up at the EVA STORE locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Hakata, the EVA-Ya store in Hakone, and online.
