Netflix announced its newest Netflix Original Anime ‘Dragon’s Dogma‘ based on Capcom’s hit video game franchise back in March via their official Twitter account with a poster style key art released shortly after in July. At that time we only got some key art for it as well as the release date of September 17th. Today Netflix provided us with a tasty morsel of new content for the upcoming series. They provided a trailer for Dragon’s Dogma as well as some new key art for the upcoming series.
Taking a look at the trailer, the series seems to be using a hybrid 2D – 3D art style similar to previous Netflix Original Anime series. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Sure it looks good, but how will it fare overall in the animation department? Only time will tell once the series hits the streaming platform on September 17th.
Netflix’s official synopsis for the series is as follows
“Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action-adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.”
Dragon’s Dogma as a game series has a vast variety of content that has been provided across the multiple years that the title has been running, and it will be interesting to see if the Netflix Dragon’s Dogma will follow the game’s story or if it will be it’s own story altogether with references to the video game sprinkled in.
The Netflix Original Anime, Dragon’s Dogma, will be available exclusively on Netflix worldwide starting on September 17th.
