Seemingly out of nowhere just now, Nintendo of America took to their official Twitter account to announce VR for the Nintendo Switch. Set to launch on April 12, 2019, Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit combines the genius of DIY portable cardboard VR shells with the Nintendo Switch. Aimed at introducing various all-new Nintendo Labo peripherals into the VR space, there’s a total of six new Labo builds from this release.

There’s never been a shortage of rumors suggesting virtual reality would be making its way to Nintendo’s hybrid console, but for the news to be dropped so… nonchalantly is wild. The creativity of the Nintendo Labo series definitely isn’t at a shortage, though you’ve got to wonder just how VR will look on the Nintendo Switch’s 720p screen being held up by your own hands. Of course, I’m sure Nintendo has learned a lot from the days of the Virtual Boy and wouldn’t simply release another device that’ll leave you dizzy.
There will be two sets made available for the VR Labo encompassing a Starter Set which features both the VR goggles and blaster, as well as a complete VR Kit which features all six VR Toy-con projects. Nintendo details the release below:
