When I was writing a piece about the PUNK DRUNKERS x GO OUT Magazine collaboration, I thought that would be the only outdoor lifestyle-related topic I’d be covering this week. Turns out that, again and again, the gods of collaborative fashion lines are willing to give anything a shot. I don’t know how this one came to be, but One Piece has teamed with the outdoor lifestyle brand Gramicci for a one week pop up shop. From August 7 to 13, in the Isetan building in Shinjuku, you’ll be able to buy some limited edition One Piece goods made by Gramicci.
There are three different T-Shirts that run about 6,500 yen apiece. One with the drawing of Luffy above, one with just the Gramicci x One Piece logo, and one that features Luffy stylized in the same manner as the brand’s signature little red guy. Yes, it does kind of look like an Insane Clone Posse Hatchetman, but that’s arguably part of the charm. These three designs are also featured on hats, bags, stickers, and a pair of shorts that cost more than 10,000 yen. I’m not sure if this clothing is made with the same functionality as the majority of Gramicci clothes, but if you wanted to go rock climbing in an anime shirt now is your chance.
Being the most popular anime of all in Japan, One Piece is no stranger to collaborations. This Gramicci line is only one of a number to come out just this year. It joins the ranks with Uniqlo, Sketchers, and other bigger names of companies that have worked with everybody’s favorite cartoon pirates. While the pop-up shop is only running for a limited amount of time, it looks like all these goods are available online as well. You can view the full selection here.
The Gramicci x One Piece line will be available in Shinjuku from August 7 to August 13.
