Eager fans of One Piece were left disappointed in September when the eagerly-anticipated One Piece: World Seeker, a brand new open-world game based on the popular anime and manga series, was delayed from a release this year to a March 15th launch in order to give the game more polish. However, with that March deadline looming ever-closer, Bandai Namco have given their fans an early Christmas treat by streaming the title’s opening cinematic and releasing a new promotional video.
The opening cinematic sees Luffy on the run from the Marines through the busy city streets as he passes various well-known One Piece characters while he attempts to escape. A bouncy saxophone- and guitar-driven instrumental track pushes the action forwards to get players pumped to experience the game for themselves.
Meanwhile, in the promotional video the focus shifts to previewing the game’s story and gameplay. Beginning with a fight against an original character for the game, a Marine named Isaac, it quickly shifts in tone as it shows Luffy exploring a wide variety of environments that the player will have a chance to explore on their adventure. The trailer also explains how players would fight against any enemies they may have to face over the course of the story.
One Piece: World Seeker will launch worldwide on March 15th and in Japan on March 14th for PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC.
