Pokémon Sword and Shield Kicks off the Halloween Season in a Gigantamax Way

Pokemon Sword and Shield Nintendo Direct Scheduled For June 5

Halloween is one of those events that has always been represented in Pokémon in one way or another. From bits written into the original story to the annual events that take place in Pokémon Go, Halloween has always been alive and kicking in the Pokémon franchise. This year, Pokémon Sword and Shield will be participating in the festivities with a couple of changes happening in the game starting from October 1st until November 1st.

Of course the rotation of dens in the wild area is something that happens on a regular basis, but this time around it’s particularly fun to see Game Freak playing with the theme of the Halloween holiday. The first of the changes to be happening is the appearance of more ghost-type Pokémon in the Wild Areas throughout the game. So if you’re a fan of ghost Pokémon or you’re just looking for those Pokémon to help fill out your Pokédex, this would likely be the best time to do so, because last time I checked, ghost type Pokémon aren’t the easiest type of Pokémon to come across in the game.

The second change that will be happening in the game is the more frequent appearance of the Gigantamax forms of Gengar and Grimmsnarl. This is big in my eyes because frankly, I think that the models for these two Pokémon are two of the best-looking Gigantamax forms in the game. Maybe this is because I’m partial to ghost-type Pokémon, who knows?

The Halloween festivities in Pokémon Sword and Shield kicked off today worldwide and will be going until 8:59 am local time to where your region is located on November 1st. So what are you waiting for? Go out there and catch a bunch of spooky Pokémon and kick off Halloween in style!
