When you think of Goodsmile Company figures your first thought is likely of the company’s impressive and ever-expanding line of Nendoroids or figmas. After all, these are what the company is known for. Recently, the company chose to launch a new line of figures called the Pop-Up Parade series, a smaller, non-scale series of figures sold at a lower price of 3900yen with a focus on detail and design. Already the new Goodsmile Company line has received figures based on the My Hero Academia franchise and more, and the latest figures to join the roster are two figures based on Galo and Lio from Trigger’s supremely popular anime film, Promare.
Both the Galo and Lio figures are non-posable and stand at roughly 18cm in height. For Lio, effort has been taken to replicate the character’s clothing and appearance from promotional materials of the film that are based on the casual uniform he wears when not suited up as part of Mad Burnish. Alongside this, the flames he is able to control have been modeled as well to create a rather cool standing pose of Lio staring forwards with flames in hand. For Galo, his figure is in his firefighter uniform, brandishing his chest with his arm outstretched in a confident pose.
Both figures have been designed and created under the supervision of character designer on the film Shigeto Koyama, and the results are rather impressive, especially considering the price of the figures.
Both Promare figures for Galo and Lio are now available to pre-order on the Goodsmile Company store, with pre-orders remaining open until September 16th at 9pm JST. After that, figures are expected to ship out to customers in December, making it a perfect way to round out the year for fans of Promare.
Making an original anime film can be a risky prospect for any company, so it’s nice to see this risk pay off for Studio TRIGGER. As the release of these figures show, fan appreciation and merchandising for the film doesn’t look set to die down anytime soon.
