Fans of old-school shoot-em-ups rejoice, NIS America is bringing two action-packed collections full of classic titles to the Nintendo Switch. Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo, two collections of six classic arcade shoot-em-ups published by the legendary Psikyo, are set to grace the Switch sometime early 2020. For anyone with fond memories of dropping quarters into arcade classics like Strikers 1945 and the likes, these will definitely hit all the right chords. Set to release both digitally and physically, classic arcade aficionados and shoot ’em up heads won’t want to miss out on these.
Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha comes with Strikers 1945, Strikers 1945 II, Strikers 1945 III, Sol Divide, Dragon Blaze, and Zero Gunner 2. On the whole, the Alpha collection features shooters that have a more military-airforce aesthetic. Plane guys and war nerds may want to choose this one if they only want to commit to one collection. The Bravo set comes with Samurai Aces Episode I, Samurai Aces Episode II: Tengai, Samurai Aces Episode III: Sengoku Cannon, Gunbarich, Gunbird, and Gunbird 2. I guess if I had to categorize a group that would be all over these, it’d be for the ones who have dropped any amount of time into Touhou or the likes.
I didn’t grow up playing shoot ’em up games, so I’ve unfortunately got to admit I’m not talented at them like some people. However, when Ikaruga finally made its way to the Nintendo Switch, I sunk countless hours into the game trying to get halfway decent at it. I’m excited to continue my exploration of this notoriously hard subgenre of games with the Psikyo Shooting Stars collections.
NIS America is releasing the Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha & Bravo collections on the Switch early 2020. Those interested in checking out additional information, be sure to head over to NIS America’s official website.
