Hobby Japan and TMS Entertainment just dropped the second trailer for the upcoming anime series Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, and it looks like a doozy.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles was announced to be getting an anime adaptation back in November of last year. The series initially got its start on the website Shosetsuka ni Narou (Let’s Become Novelists) in 2014 and has since expanded to be a manga series being published in Hobby Japan in 2015.

The series is quite popular in Japan, having sold over 1.2 million copies since its inception. It is also available in English in both novel and manga form from J-Novel Club. They have outlined the story as follows;

Meet Rio: a callous, orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7 years old, he realizes he’s actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past. While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he’s rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children…?
