The studio behind the Seven Deadly Sins series put out a new trailer for the upcoming movie Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light, and shared a new key visual which leaves us with more questions than answers.
Now I can’t be the only one that thought this, but the trailer ending with the line ‘Saraba Taizai’ (Farewell, Sins) leaves me with some EVANGELION 3.0+1.0 vibes similar to ‘Saraba, subete no EVANGELION’ (Farewell, All of EVANGELION). If this is being used in the same light, it means that the Seven Deadly Sins series is coming to a close and the movie will be the final chapter in the story.
I mean, the trailer does directly say ‘The final story in the series’, but who knows for sure if it truly is the end of the series or just this story. Not to mention the key visual they shared also says ‘Farewell, Seven Deadly Sins’…
Seven Deadly Sins is an anime series based on the manga of the same name. The first 24-episode television anime aired in 2014 and 2015. Netflix later streamed the series with both English and Japanese audio to some pretty good reception. There have since been two additional seasons, both of which are also available on Netflix. The fourth season is currently airing in Japan. The manga got its start back in 2012 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and the last chapter just wrapped up in May 2020, so there is a strong possibility that this is for sure the end of the series.
Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed By Light will be released in Japanese theaters on 2 July 2021.
