Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0’s First Ten Minutes Will Be Unveiled Around the World on July 6

The return of Neon Genesis Evangelion to Netflix was supposed to be a joyous event. Finally, one of the most important shows of all time could be accessed by diehards and newcomers alike after a decade long absence from the market. Sadly, the Netflix release of the show came with a new dub nobody wanted, extremely literal subtitles that take away from a lot of the show’s nuance, and the removal of the show’s beloved 26 different renditions of “Fly Me To The Moon”. Fans have been disappointed, to say the least; however, like a gift from the God’s themselves to make up for this failure, the first 10 minutes and 40 seconds of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 (or Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version:||, depending who’s Tweeting I guess) will screen around the world July 6, 2019.

Since 2018, news and reports about Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 have been ramping up. The long-awaited final film in the Rebuild Of Evangelion series is set to release next year, though since it’s already been 7 years since Evangelion 3.33 came out, many have been skeptical. Studio Khara has confirmed they’ll be showing the first chunk of the movie at various places around the world in just a couple weeks, proving the studio at least has something ready to show fans.

Those attending Anime Expo in California will be able to see the intro to film as well as people attending Japan Expo in France. Various unnamed places in Japan will also be hosting screenings of the Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 preview as well as at least one place in Shanghai. Studio Khara is titling the clip ‘Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 AVANT1 0706ver’  for its western release and ‘Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version AVANT 1 0706ver’ for its Japanese screenings. With an actual tangible piece of the new film almost in our hands, maybe we can put our disappoint and takes of the Netflix release of the original show on hold. A lot of people have been waiting a long time for this.

Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 AVANT1 0706ver will screen at various places around the world July 6. You can check out additional information on the official Evangelion website.
