Since the very beginning, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been a game of poke and tease. From the suggestive occurrences before a character reveal to minor details like colors of chairs, Sakurai and the team at Nintendo were constantly dropping hints left and right. But sometimes those hints could be a little more obvious, sometimes even right there in plain sight. That was the case earlier today with the release of an all-new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate commercial in which, when paused on the initial second of footage, displays a curious menu choice currently not present in the game. I’m talking, of course, about “Stage Builder” mode.
While “Stage Builder” mode has been present in previous iterations of Super Smash Brothers ever since Brawl on the GameCube, it was definitely a noted exclusion in Ultimate. With that being said, you can’t tout the “Ultimate” name if you aren’t going to include everything, and it’d be most likely that from version update 3.0 the new mode will be included. What “Stage Builder” in Smash Bros. Ultimate will actually entail though is an entirely different question, and one that was unfortunately unanswered in Nintendo’s stealth reveal of the new mode.
Available exclusively on Nintendo Switch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been an absolute treat for my own loungeroom since its initial release. While there are currently no further details on “Stage Builder” mode, we’ll be sure to keep you updated as they’re revealed. Those interested in checking out further information on the game can head over to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s official website.
