The collection includes a watch, two jackets, a backpack, a wallet, and sneakers.
The items are currently available for preorder through Sept. 28.
The company’s website states that SuperGroupies’ designs are “very subtle, so it may not look like common anime merchandise.”
Judging from what I’ve seen, that seems like an accurate description.
These items don’t scream “look at me, I’m a big, nerdy fan of Cardcaptor Sakura,” but they are definitely inspired by the anime series.
For example, the watch has a very professional-looking design, with a typical metallic wristband and a dark blue watch face.
However, a closer inspection reveals a lot. The second hand is modeled after the Staff of Dreams (or “Dream Staff”). The watch face features a lot of other stealthy Cardcaptor designs and motifs.
And where other watches might say Rolex or Seiko, this one says Cardcaptor Sakura on it. Sneaky.
The backpack, wallet, and sneakers are similarly subtle.
These items are the same colors as Tomoeda Middle School uniforms — mostly black, with some red and white sprinkled in.
The backpack has designs patterned after the Key of Dreams and the cover to the book Alice in Clockland.
It also comes with a detachable “Secure” charm, named after the incantation Sakura uses to seal a card.
The wallet has similar designs. It also says “I’m sure I’ll be all right!” on the inside. It’s a mantra used frequently on the show.
According to the website, when you wear the sneakers, “you’ll be able to feel magical energy emanate from them as if performing a key release.”
The reversible jackets are probably the least subtle items in the collection. They are letterman-style “sukajan” jackets.
One jacket features the Staff of Dreams, wings, and “Cardcaptor Sakura” in script. The artwork is an exclusive, original design, the website states.
The other one features Cerberus in his full-size guardian form. The illustration is vaguely reminiscent of the ending theme (Groovy!) for the first season of the original series.
Reverse the jacket, and you can literally wear your love of Cardcaptor Sakura on your sleeve.
But clearly, these items would be appropriate for any version of Cardcaptor Sakura.
The items will be available for preorder until Sept. 28, although the website warns that some things could sell out before the end of the month.
They estimate that items will ship in January or February of 2021.
