The epic of Sword Art Online is something that has spanned multiple years, stories, and platforms. With the newest entry in the title being Sword Art Online – Alicization – War of Underworld. Today, Aniplex has announced the airing plans for the next cour in the Sword Art Online – Alicization – War of Underworld series bringing the arc to a close. We previously announced the third chapter in the Alicization series, and it wasn’t a disappointment.
The next cour of Sword Art Online – Alicization – War of Underworld will begin airing on April 25th at midnight Japan Standard Time. The last episode of the previous cour “Alicization Awakening” saw Kirito still in a vegetative state surrounded by his friends while the American players make their way onto the Underworld. While the Pugilists and Dark Knights manage to keep the American players at bay, Critter plans to send another twenty thousand players from the real world into the Underworld. The episode ends with Sinon appearing and her and Asuna embracing each other.
The closing chapters to Sword Art Online – Alicization – War of Underworld will start with the episode “The Great Underworld War” on April 25th, 2020. Leading up to the start of what could possibly be one of the most immersive arcs in Sword Art Online history, Aniplex will be broadcasting many special programs starting on April 11th to bring viewers back into the Sword Art Online world, as well as re-airing the first cour recap starting on April 18th. Will we see the awakening of Kirito? What will Asuna do to the American forces who are trying to overthrow the Underworld? Only time will tell and I for one am looking forward to seeing the closing to this breathtaking chapter in the Sword Art Online saga.
