Just as I say in every single Evangelion collaboration article, the types of collaborations you see with the Evangelion franchise hold no bounds. You’re bound to see collaborations with things that you would never expect to go together, like curry and cars, among others. But for someone who was a child in the mid to late ’90s, the newest collaboration holds a very special place in my heart. Today, Bandai has announced that they are doing a Tamagotchi x Evangelion collaboration called, EVATCHI.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Tamagotchi line of toys, they are a handheld digital pet that took the public by storm in the latter half of the ’90s worldwide. You would start out with an egg and depending on how you answered the needs of your pet, it would grow to be a different type of character. You needed to play with your pet, feed it, and clean up after it. Just as you would a real pet.
The new EVATCHI will release on June 13th, 2020 and will allow you to give birth to a host of Angels from the series. The LCL inside of the special-shaped armor is “filled” with the “liquid for life” allowing the angels to live inside the screen. You will be able to train more than 20 different types of Angels. They will be releasing 3 different model designs, one based off of Unit01, Unit02, and Unit00.
They haven’t announced any preorders or anything yet, but with the popularity of the series, I couldn’t see them not offering some sort or pre-purchase option for the Tamagotchi x Evangelion collaboration. But one thing is for sure, if there isn’t one, you can best believe that I will be on the hunt for one of these as they’re a nostalgic part of my childhood and I love me some Evangelion.
