It’s been a few years now since Japanese reality series Terrace House took international audiences by storm following its re-launch as a Netflix Original. It definitely reached a peak over the last couple of years, but it looks like the series aims to take things even further with an all-new series set to launch in May later this year. Titled Terrace House Tokyo 2019 – 2020, the series will be landing right on the heels of this week’s Terrace House: Opening New Doors finale.

For those unfamiliar with Terrace House’s formula, the reality series sees three men and three women all unfamiliar with eachother come together under a single roof, aptly known as the Terrace House, and records their day-to-day interactions. While the last series saw residents come together in the resort town of Karuizawa, located in Nagano Prefecture about two hours outside of Tokyo, the new series has particularly eyed off Tokyo with the 2020 Olympic Games just around the corner.
Terrace House: Tokyo 2019 – 2020 will be the series’ first time returning to Tokyo since the conclusion of Terrace House: Boys & Girls in the City back in 2016. With the series set to begin airing in March, both Netflix and Fuji Television have an open call out at the moment for those wishing to audition to be included in the cast of Terrace House: Tokyo 2019 – 2020. Requirements call for anyone between 18 – 29 years of age who is in good health and can easily coexist with other residents.
With Terrace House: Opening New Doors coming to a conclusion after a total of 49 episodes, series presenter and well-known comedian Ryota Yamasato took to his Twitter account to give his thanks, mentioning that he was happy with all the kind words shared by foreign fans of the series. It has also been confirmed that he, as well as YOU, Reina Triendl, Yoshimi Tokui, Azusa Babazono, and Shono Hayama, will be returning as announcers for the new series.
