The superhero comedy anime series Tiger & Bunny will have a 10th anniversary special at 8 p.m. on 3 April (Japan Time). They will livestream the program at the BNP YouTube channel (short for anime studio Bandai Namco Pictures).
The HERO TV Anniversary Special Program will commemorate the 2011 series. But they should also provide some new information about the upcoming 2022 sequel series, since they recently updated the Tiger & Bunny website.
The name of the special comes from the in-series HERO TV program, which broadcasts the corporate-sponsored crime-fighting adventures of Kotetsu ‘Wild Tiger’ Kaburagi and Barnaby ‘Bunny’ Brooks.
We don’t have a promo video for the new series yet. But if you’re unfamiliar with the concept or need a refresher, here’s a VIZ trailer for the original series:
The new series will take place sometime after the second Tiger & Bunny anime film, Tiger & Bunny: The Rising (2014). The Rising took place after the epilogue for the first series. At the end of the film, Kotetsu and Barnaby are back to being partners (they had a brief retirement in the series epilogue). In the new series, they have moved from the First League to Second League. And as the name implies, these heroes are apparently second stringers.
BNP seems to make a lot of its stuff available internationally, so there’s a good chance this new special will be available to viewers outside of Japan. The 8 p.m. time translates to 3 a.m. in Los Angeles, but hopefully they will leave the video up for a while.
